Mrs. Claire (Stephenson) Seay, affectionately known as “Granny”, age 88, a resident of Dothan passed peacefully Friday, August 18, 2023, at her home with family lovingly by her side.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, August 27, 2023, at Glover Funeral Home with Charles Judson Stephenson officiating The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 prior to the service. A private family burial will follow at Dothan City Cemetery.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to, Ridgecrest Baptist Church, 1231 Fortner Street, Dothan, AL 36301.
Claire was born September 16, 1934 in Dothan to the late Howard Dawson & Hilda Anntoinette Ross Stephenson. She has been a lifelong resident of Dothan and was a 1952 graduate of Dothan High School. Claire spent her adult life as a homemaker, and enjoyed her family, gardening, crossword puzzles, babysitting grandkids, and Auburn Football, “War Eagle!” She was a devout Christian and member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 58 years, Henry Glynn “Billy” Seay; five brothers, Harvey “Boots”, Johnny, Ross, Charles, and Hugh Stephenson; her sister, Annette Hammond.
She is survived by a son, Glynn S. Seay (Jackie) of Chipley, FL; a daughter, Cindy S. Kemp (Robert) of Kingwood, TX; four grandchildren, Jason Seay of Chipley, FL, Anna Seay (Evan Maisel) of Mobile, AL, Jenny Ewing (Joe Corcoran) of Ventura, CA, and Emily Kemp of Charleston, SC; five great-grandchildren, Nico, Emile, Ellison, Henry, and Bennett; several nieces and nephews also survive.
