Clara was born September 4, 1933 in Lafayette, MS. She was one of 15 children born to Arthur Jack Kirby and Bernice Elizabeth (Ganger) Kirby. Clara was a strong no nonsense, kind of woman. Her nurturing nature made her a mother and grandmother to everyone. She would do anything for her family. Her soft heart and loving presence brought light to everyone she was around.
Clara enjoyed and was an exceptional seamstress and knitter. She made gifts of her talents which were always treasured. I think that everyone in her family had a pair of her famous slippers! She traveled extensively across the United States, and also in parts of Europe. Her adventures always seemed to end with sharing stories about a new friend she had met, while pulling out her yarn and getting back to her sewing. She was an exceptional woman and will be truly missed. She was married to George A. McBroom from December 15th, 1953 – September 8th 1989.
Surviving relatives include her children, George McBroom, Jr., Utah, Dana Wilson, Navarre, Florida and Debra Flythe, Ozark, John McBroom, Tampa, Florida and Floyd McBroom, Daleville, Alabama; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, eight sisters, and three brothers.
