DOTHAN. . .Clarence Albert “C.A.” Sample, a resident of Dothan, died Friday afternoon, January 18, 2019, at his home. He was 95.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 21, 2019, in the Concord Baptist Church, near Newville, with Reverend Stacy Stafford officiating. Graveside services, with military honors, will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Monday in the church sanctuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
Mr. Sample was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, son of the late Paul William Sample and Harriet Deeter Sample. An Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War, he served his country in Rhineland, Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Southern France and Central Europe. While serving in the Army, he was awarded the Purple Heart with one Oak Leaf Cluster, EAME Theater Ribbon with 5 Bronze Stars, and the Silver Star Medal. Mr. Sample lived in McCordsville, Indiana before moving to Dothan in 1964. He was a member of the Southside Baptist Church and the Masonic Order. He was retired from Cornwell Tools of Akron, Ohio as a Tool Representative. Mr. Sample was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Barnes Sample, an infant daughter, Cynthia Ann Sample, a son, Terry Mack Sample, a sister, Marth Jane Wilson, and a brother, Harry William Sample.
Surviving relatives include two sons, Greg Sample and Brett Sample, both of Dothan; a sister-in-law, Shirley Barnes; a niece, Sheila K. Barnes, and a nephew, Don Ray Barnes (Lisa).
