Clayton “Buddy” Thomas Sowell, 70 of Slocomb, Al passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, AL.
Buddy was born on September 3, 1950 in Bonifay, Fl to the late Henry Clayton and Roxie Ann Sowell. Buddy spent his lifetime in the Wiregrass area and was a member of the Fadette Pentecostal Ministries Church where he served as a deacon and a board member. He retired from the City of Dothan after 34 years serving as Chief Operator of the Wastewater Treatment Plant. Buddy enjoyed many hobbies such as antique shopping, yard selling, and fishing. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters; Mandae Michelle Sowell, and Michelle Cheri Bowen, one sister; Francis Gibson.
Buddy is survived by his loving wife Sherry Sowell, two sons Jeremy Sowell of El Paso, TX, and Jason Green of Spanish Fort, Al, brother Roy Sowell of Lynn Haven, FL, sister: Mary Searcy of Chipley, seven grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
Services for Buddy will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at Fadette Pentecostal Ministries with Brother Johnny Strickland, and Rev. Jim Creel officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Williams Funeral Home directing.
Family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until time of service.
Serving as Buddy’s pallbearers will be Tony Bowen, Travis Jenkins, Chris Davis, Jeff Dykes, Rodney Hughes, and Tim McCoy.
