Clinton L. Monk


 


Clinton L. Monk, a resident of Dothan, died Thursday morning, May 31, 2012 at Flowers Hospital. He was 60.


 


Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel on West Main Street with Rev. Travis Free officiating. Burial will follow in Cool Springs Baptist Church Cemetery (Bellwood Community) with Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Saturday prior to service time.


 


Mr. Monk was born March 25, 1952 in Daleville, Alabama to Y.C. and Annie Lou Brown and lived all of his life in the Wiregrass area. He owned and operated Dixie Framers and later was affiliated with Alfred Saliba Construction Company.  He then established Monk Construction Company which he operated for many years prior to his retirement. Through the years he received many awards through the Home Builders Association including Builder of the Year in 1994. He served as a past president, on the board of directors and also dedicated himself to construction projects for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and built many scholarship homes for the association, all helping the youth in the community. He recently rededicated his life to the Lord.


 


He is survived by three daughters, Stephanie Amanda Monk Walker (Shawn) of Dothan, Olivia Madelynn Monk and her grandmother, Cynthia Floyd, both of Dothan, and Rachel Lynn Walker of Geneva; a granddaughter, Annalee Grace Walker of Dothan and her grandmother, Lynda Johnston (Bill) of Dothan; a sister, Linda Granata (Bob) of Naples, FL; an aunt, Beatrice Black of Enterprise; several other extended family members also survive.


 


Pallbearers will be Robert Williamson, Ronnie Crody, Woody Clark, Mike Blissett, John Sanders and David Clark.


 


Honorary pallbearers will be Phillip Smith, Joel Hughes, Chris Ellenburg, Allen Lloyd, Dennis Granger, Albert Kirkland and Billy Allen.
