Clyde "Buddy" McKenzie, Jr., 57, a resident of Dothan passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at a local hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Covenant United Methodist Church with Dr. Hays McKay and Rev. Kyle Gatlin officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Friday at Sunset Funeral Home.

Buddy was born March 8, 1959 in Headland, AL to Mr. Clyde McKenzie and the late Dinah Lou McKenzie and spent his entire life in Dothan. He was a 1977 graduate of Dothan High School where he was a successful member of the football program. He has been employed with Covenant United Methodist Church for several years as a custodian. Buddy was also a longtime member of Covenant where he became very active with the missions program, traveling with the church to Peru and many other locations helping those in need. He was a handyman and a neighborhood social worker, always lending a helping hand to one in need. His passion was working with children. He was preceded in death by his twin sisters, Patricia Ramone and Latricia Ramone McKenzie.

Survivors include his father Clyde McKenzie, SR.; a brother, Jimmy (Sherry) McKenzie; sisters, Annette (Anthony Odoms) McKenzie, Rose (Larry Harris) Roberson, and Betty (Alfred) Crawford; nieces and nephews, Danny Roberson, Jr., Deddrick Roberson, Anthony Leon, Jr., Alfred Crawford, Jr., Brittney McKenzie, Angel McKenzie, Cpl Christopher McCollum, SGT Jeremy McKenzie, and Brandon Magwood; great niece and nephew, Cordale Oliver and Gabrielle Roberson; special friends, Margie Gordon, Danny Roberson, Sr. and Barbara Walker McKenzie; a host of other relatives and friends also survive.
