NEWVILLE. . . Clyde Daniel Riley, a resident of Newville, died Thursday, February 24, 2022, in a Dothan hospital. He was 81.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, February 27, 2022, in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church with Reverend Hugh D. Kirkland, Jr. and Reverend Benny Cole officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. Sunday in the church sanctuary. Social distancing and mask guidelines will be observed. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Cemetery Fund, c/o Roger Woodham, 3903 County Road 83, Newville, AL 36353.
Clyde Riley was a lifelong resident of the Old Center community of Henry County, son of the late William Carl Riley and Lillie McClenny Riley. He was an active member of the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church where he formerly served as Chairman of the Deacons. Clyde was retired as the General Manager of the Headland Peanut Warehouse Co-op. He was preceded in death by a sister, Nellie Grace Carpenter, two brothers, Reverend Olen Riley and B. E. Riley, and two sons, David Allums and Rod Allums.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Carolyn Allums Riley; two daughters, Karen Riley Bradish, Greensboro, NC; and Sharon Riley Sessoms, Pittsboro, NC; two sons, Terry Allums (Kristie), Abbeville; and Larry Allums (Phyllis), Enterprise; brothers-in-law, Billy Allums (Susan), Bartow, FL; and Steve Allums (Brenda), Texarkana, Arkansas; three sisters, Valeta Chancey, Ozark; Jean Williams and Patricia Douglas, both of Satsuma, AL; three grandchildren, Carley Maynard, Cole Rhew and Sarah Sessoms; three great-grandchildren, Kiren Maynard, Saylor Maynard and Ryland Maynard; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren from the Allums family, and nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the NeuroCritical Care Unit at Southeast Health and especially his nurses, Madisen and April, for the loving care and kindness shown to Clyde during his illness.
