Mr. Clyde E. Hayes, 91 of Dothan, passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2016 after a brave battle with Melanoma Cancer.

As a young man, Mr. Hayes proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. His tour overseas took him across Europe and included the Battle of the Bulge. After the war, he worked for the General Electric Company in Dealer Sales for 30 years. Throughout his life, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was quite simply, a good man.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Syble Hinkle Hayes. He is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Michael Lovelady; and by his grandson, Russell Hayes Lovelady.

The family will receive friends at Ward Wilson Funeral Home on Thursday, March 10, 2016 from 1 to 2 PM. Visitation will be followed by a prayer by Reverend Woody Farrington of Calvery Baptist Church where Mr. Hayes was a member. Graveside services for family will take place later at Forest Hill Cemetery in Birmingham, Alabama.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to a favorite charity.

Special appreciation goes to longtime friend and caregiver, Loretta and to Gentiva Home Health and Hospice.
