Clyde McKenzie, Sr, 78, a resident of Dothan passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016 at a local hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. McKenzie was born on November 7, 1937 in Barbour County, AL to the late Curlee and Susie McKenzie and spent the early part of his life there. He later married Dinah Lou Dawkins and had 7 children. He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, a son Clyde "Buddy" McKenzie, Jr., and twin daughters, Patricia Ramone and Latricia Ramone. In the mid 1960's he moved to Dothan where he was employed with Couch Construction. He was also employed with Smith's Inc for several years prior to his retirement. Mr. McKenzie enjoyed talking on his C.B. Radio (his handle was "Catfish 606"), playing the harp and playing his guitar.
Survivors include his son, Jimmy (Sherry) McKenzie; daughters, Annette (Anthony Odoms) McKenzie, Rose (Larry Harris) Roberson, and Betty (Alfred) Crawford; grandchildren, Danny Roberson, Jr., Deddrick (Demetria) Roberson, Anthony Leon, Jr., Alfred Crawford, Jr., Brittney McKenzie, Angel McKenzie, Cpl Christopher McCollum, SGT Jeremy McKenzie, and Brandon Magwood; great-grandchildren, Cordale Oliver and Gabrielle Roberson; his brother, James (Carolyn) McKenzie; a host of nieces and nephews.
