Corine Wiginton of Samson passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.  She was 96. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at New Prospect Baptist Church with Chaplain Jadon Schank and Rev. Elbert Smith, officiating,.  Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva, directing.  The family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Mrs. Wiginton was born in Marion County, AL on February 2, 1928, to the late Ed and Annie Savannah Crow Nixon.  She was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church.  Mrs. Wiginton owned and operated restaurants in the Hamilton, AL and Samson, AL areas for many years. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jennifer Wright Bowdin; nine brothers, Orville Nixon, Tom Nixon, Audie Nixon, Freeman Nixon, Oakland Nixon, Austin Nixon, Leonard Nixon, Crawford Nixon, and Edgar Nixon; four sisters, Lois Owens, Eunice Moyers, Mamie Clark, and Olene Rollins; and her husband of sixty-six years, Edwin Wiginton.  Today they are celebrating their seventy-fourth anniversary together in heaven.  She was the last of her generation.

She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Wright (Forrest); son, Gary Wiginton (Lisa); four grandchildren, Sandy Morris (Jim), Cristie Stephenson (David), all of Samson, Chad Wiginton (April) of Opp, and Sierra Price (Jack) of Samson; and six great-grandchildren, Tyler Stephenson (Sydney), Brieanna Stephenson, Cassie Lynn Copeland (Colby), Braden Rasnek, Ty Wiginton, and Jameson Price.
