COY  J.  MONEY


ABBEVILLE. . . Coy J. Money, a resident of Abbeville, died Wednesday afternoon, April 18, 2018, in Noland Hospital. He was 77.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 21, 2018, in the First Baptist Church of Abbeville with Reverend Ryan Johnson, Reverend Teddy Ward and Reverend Ray S. Reiley officiating.  Burial will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 P.M. Saturday in the First Baptist Church Family Life Building.


            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church “Maintenance Fund,” P.O. Box 606, Abbeville, AL 36310.


            Coy Money was born and reared in Shorterville, son of the late Joseph Greene Money and Lula Buxton Money. He was a graduate of Abbeville High School and  served his country in the Army Reserve in the Abbeville unit.  Coy moved to Abbeville in 1971 where he participated in many civic activities. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church and served as a Deacon. Coy visited the Henry County Health & Rehabilitation Facility every Sunday morning and held a Sunday School Ministry. He retired from the U. S. Postal Service in Abbeville as a Rural Letter Carrier. In earlier years, Coy was a partner in the operation of Money’s Ford and was engaged in the logging business. Coy had a great love for the Lord Jesus Christ, his family, and for service to others. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy Whitehead Money, a sister, Mary Lou Hayes, and two brothers, Alfred E. Money and James W. Money.


            Surviving relatives include his wife, Priscilla Bush Money; two  sons, Joseph Money, Shorterville and Clay Money, Abbeville; two step-daughters, Carol Knighton Gobbel (Wendell), Cottonwood; and Gwen Knighton Webb (Pete), Dothan; a sister, Kathleen Capps, Abbeville; four brothers, Lindy Money (Mary Jane), and Hawley Money (Mary Ann), all of Abbeville; Rev. Robert E. Money (Sydnor), Knoxville, TN; and Jimmy Money (Lorene), Abbeville; sisters-in-law, Rossie Money, Virginia Money, Carline Spier and Elain Withrock (John); two step-grandchildren, Anna Beckworth and Spencer Webb.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Chris Money, Charles Money, Joe Capps, Dan Capps, David Money, Allen Money, Mills Money and Matthew Money. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of First Baptist Church.
