Cristie Diane Parmer, a resident of Ashford, passed away early Sunday morning, April 18, 2021, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was 57.


Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 22, 2021, at Bluff Springs Baptist Church with Reverend Dennis Singletary and Reverend Mike Shirah officiating and Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. 


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Northside Methodist Academy “Scholarship Fund”, 2600 Redmond Rd, Dothan, AL 36303, or Bluff Springs Baptist Church, “Playground Fund”,  1990 Bluff Springs Road, Ashford, AL 36312.


Ms. Parmer was born February 5, 1964, in Dothan to Don and Janice Parmer and lived most all of her life in Houston County. She was a 1982 graduate of Ashford Academy where she enjoyed sports and played softball, basketball, and ran track. She later graduated from Troy State University where she received her bachelor’s degree in math. She taught school for over 30 years at Ashford Academy, Wallace College, and most recently at Northside Methodist Academy. Ms. Parmer also tutored students and was the bookkeeper at the basketball games and coached the softball games. She was an avid Alabama Fan…Roll Tide! She was a lifetime member of Bluff Springs Baptist Church. She loved her church family and has kept the nursery for the past 30 years.


Ms. Parmer is predeceased by her father, Don Parmer.


Survivors include three children, Jessica Greer of Green Cove Springs, Florida, Jamie  Garrett (Tim) of Dothan, and Isaac Miller of Ashford; five granddaughters, Gabi Greer, Madi Greer, Elli Garrett, Charleigh Garrett, and Gracie Garrett; her mother, Janice Parmer of Ashford; a sister, Cindy Robison (J.D.) of Ashford; a brother, Chip Parmer (Mendy) of Ashford; several nieces and nephews, Cole Robison (Sarah), Caleb Robison (Nicole), Cody Robison, Jacob Parmer (Sarah), Joleigh Parmer; great-nephews, Tripp, Oliver, and Owen Robison and Lucas Parmer.


The family would like the extend thanks to Bailey and the entire Kindred Hospice team, and a special thanks to Sharla Godwin, Cristie’s “sister soulmate” for running the race with her.
