CSM (RET.) George Clyde Long, age 100 years and 286 days, of Clayhatchee, AL, passed away, Sunday, August 30, 2015 in Extendicare, after a brief illness.


Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Daleville Baptist Church with Rev. Chad Hixson and Rev. Jim Peters officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the Daleville Chapel of Searcy Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 1st from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Old Providence Foundation, 100 Mills Austin Road, Daleville, AL 36322 or The Daleville Baptist Church Benevolence Fund, 100 Donnell Blvd., Daleville, AL 36322.


Mr. Long proudly served his country in the U. S. Army for 24 years 10 months and 20 days. He served tours in World War II and The Korean War. He received The Bronze Star and The Purple Heart Medals.


He is a member of Daleville Lodge 903 and has been a member of Blue Lodge Masonry for 72 years. He is a 33rdDegree Scottish Rite and a member of the Alcazar Shrine Temple.


Mr. Long was preceded in death by a son, George Ollie Long.


Survivors include his daughter, Jan Long Robertson, Daleville, AL; grandchildren, Beth Bryant; Joshua Robertson (Stephanie); Justin Robertson; great-grandchildren, Robert Bryant; Hunter Bryant; Bailey Robertson.
