Our Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, Command Sgt Major (Ret) Richard Earle Webb, died Friday after a long fought battle with Parkinson’s. He was a strong, gentle, funny and loving man-generous without measure. He loved music and looked forward to any opportunity to dance, to do wood working, work his model trains, and his garden. (And for those who knew him- his car).
He was born in Rexburg, Idaho, September 25, 1939 to Ernest E Webb and Avis Payne Webb . He enlisted in the US Army in 1957. He credited the US Army for giving him direction and helping him become the man he was. Of all things he was a Solider, and as such a leader of soldiers and our family. A highly decorated Vietnam Veteran, he served our country on Active Duty for twenty eight years retiring at Ft. Rucker, Alabama, after serving as the Post Command Sergeant Major for Fort Devens, Massachusetts. The majority of his career was spent in multiple tours overseas to include Germany, Korea and Vietnam.
After the military he worked as a defense contractor for successive military contractors ( Dyncorp, CBIS, Westar, Cobro and QinetiQ) in support of the US Army Aviation Technical Test Center at Cairns Army Airfield, Ft Rucker Data Collection Contract from which he retired in 2007.
He is preceded in death by his wife Emma Jasukow Webb, his Belarus bride who he met, fell in love with and married in Germany in 1959.
Besides his wife and his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers; Lyle Wesley Webb, Rick Webb and one sister, Vicki Webb.
He is survived by his children Patricia (Ron) Donahue, Richard (Charisse) Webb, Lyle Mickey Webb, and Timberly (Tim) Galloway. He was incredibly proud of his Grandchildren, Keith (Buffie) Coburn, Richard (Andrea) Webb, Nicholas (Tabitha) Webb, Dustin Webb, Orin Galloway, Alycia Frazier, and Cara (Charlie)Synder. He also chose Nancy Jones, Hilaree Smith and Jasmine Ross who he loved and who cared for him as his granddaughters.
His great grandchildren Jagger and Stone Coburn, Adelyn, John and Richard Webb, Leilani, Laura, Levi and Lane Webb, Lyla Frazier, David and Kinley Snyder, were his joy and responsible for many improtu singing and dancing sessions.
His brothers, Don Michael (Erin) Webb, Bradley (Barbara) Waters, a sister Jaci Webb and a dear sister-in-law, Carolyn Cobb Webb.
His cousins, Peggy Smith, Ray Mueller, Nola Faye Taylor, and Leisa Mahanes. And by many nieces and nephews for whom he had a special bond.
His lifelong friend, Dave Walker and all his troops that served with him, especially the ones from A Company, 141st Signal Battalion.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Monday, May 16, 2016 from the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 1 PM until 2 PM, an hour prior to the service.
