CURTIS E. (GENE) HARBERT
HEADLAND…Curtis E. (Gene) Harbert, age 70, a resident of Headland, died late Wednesday night, September 25, 2013, in a Dothan hospital.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 9:00 until 10:15 A.M. Saturday, September 28, 2013, at Holman-Headland Mortuary. A private graveside service for the family will follow in Gardens of Memory with his brothers, Reverend Jerome Harbert and Reverend James Harbert officiating.
The family requests the omission of food and flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity. There will be no visitation at the family residence.
Gene Harbert was a lifelong resident of Houston County, near Headland, son of the late Curtis Lee Harbert and Elsie B. Wood Harbert. He was a 1961 graduate of the Houston County High School in Columbia. Gene was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. He was retired from Alabama Power Company as a Local Lineman in the Ashford office. Gene was an avid Alabama football fan. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Harbert and Thomas Harbert.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Glenda Griffin Harbert, Headland; a daughter, Misty Harbert Johnson (Terry), Headland; a son, Marty E. Harbert (Tiffany), Dothan; five grandchildren, Curtis Peters, Bella Harbert, Cayden Harbert, Haley Johnson, and D.J. Johnson; four sisters, Elouise Savell, Faye Nowell, and Annette Olsen, all of Headland; Judy Haynes (Bob), Dothan; two brothers, Reverend James Harbert (Henryetta), Marianna, FL; and Reverend Jerome Harbert (Sheila), Kinsey; a sister-in-law, Peggy Harbert, Headland.
