CURTIS WILBURN WILLIAMS
FT. GAINES, GEORGIA. . .Curtis Wilburn Williams, a resident of Ft. Gaines, Georgia, died Saturday night, January 14, 2012, in a Dothan hospital. He was 75.
Graveside services, with full military honors, will be held at 11:00 A.M. (E.S.T.) Tuesday, January 17, 2012, in the New Park Cemetery in Ft. Gaines with Reverend Brandon Turner officiating. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends following the graveside services.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
Mr. Williams was born and reared in Henry County, Alabama, son of the late Comer Lee Williams and Ila Owens Williams. He lived in Ft. Gaines most of his adult lifetime. Mr. Williams served his county in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War era. He later retired from the Army National Guard in Abbeville with rank of Staff Sergeant. Mr. Williams was also retired as Park Ranger at the Walter F. George Lock and Dam in Ft Gaines. He was preceded in death by sisters, Ann Woods, Wilma Walker and Betty Hardwick and brothers, Sam Williams, John Williams, Robert Williams and Merle Williams.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Virginia Gashaw Williams, Ft. Gaines; two daughters, Debbie Williams, Ft. Gaines; and Beverly Potts, Dothan; four grandchildren, Travis Bryan, Chloe Dean, Curt Dupree and Reid Potts; a great-granddaughter, Kelsey Davis; two sisters, Jeanette Harris, Abbeville; Jeritha Fondren and husband, Johnny, Slocomb, AL; a brother, Roger Dale Williams and wife, Sandy, Dothan; brothers-in-law, Joe Walker and Russell Hardwick; sisters-in-law, Ruth Williams and Hazel Williams; numerous nieces and nephews.
