CW2, Paul Lewis Lasseter (USA, Ret.) of Enterprise, AL passed away at his residence on Tuesday, January 2, 2018. He was 88. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2018, in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Geneva with his son, Mike Lasseter, officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday, beginning at Noon. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), 704 Crawford Ave, Enterprise, AL 36330.
Mr. Lasseter was born in Sylvester, GA on July 21, 1929, to the late Louis and Clara Lasseter. He attended Glenn High School in Brunswick, GA until joining the US Army at the age of 17. He later graduated from the US Armed Forces Institute in Madison, WI. At the age of 32, he was accepted and successfully completed warrant officer training and Army flight training. He fought in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Mr. Lasseter during his time in the service was awarded multiple commendations, including the Silver Star, 2 Bronze Stars, Air Medal, Army Commendation, Army Good Conduct, Army/Navy Occupation, Korean Service and Vietnam Service Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, Army Broken Wing Award. He retired after having served his country for twenty-one years. After his service in the U.S. Army, Mr. Lasseter pursued his career as a helicopter test pilot and retired after working for Page Aircraft and Sikorsky Aircraft. He was a member of the Daleville Masonic Lodge# 903. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debbie Motley; grandson, Skylar Lasseter, and a brother, Alton Lasseter.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-nine years, Susie Eugene Lasseter of Enterprise; daughter, Connie Gerhart (Foster) of Navarre, FL; two sons, Mike Lasseter (Pam) of Geneva and Terry Lasseter of Enterprise; five grandchildren, Jaime Braden, Anna Lasseter, Christi Miller, Stephen Walters, Jr. and Tiffany Cox; and seven great-grandchildren.
