CW3 John Ross Mullen (US Army Ret.), 66, a resident of Ozark passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at a local hospital.


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2016 with Pastor Edward Douglas officiating. Military Honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ozark-Dale County Humane Society, 579 Bivins Drive, Ozark, AL, 36360.


CW3 Mullen was born January 9, 1950 in Yakima, WA and spent the early part of his life in Wichita, KS. He was a Vietnam War Veteran and served in the U.S. Army for 22 years, retiring as a CW3 in 1992. He later worked with DynCorp and AFS for several years until his retirement in 2014. He has been a resident of Ozark since 1983 and was a member of the Wiregrass Amateur Radio Organization.


Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Deborah Mullen; his son, Ronald Mullen; his daughter, Melissa Mullen; his grandson, Austin Mullen; his brothers, Roy Mullen, Mike Mullen, and Kenny Mullen; his sister, Kathy Ford; several nieces and nephews.
