Murrow “Row” Schwinn, Jr, age 94, a resident of Dothan, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2019, at his home.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm, Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at Hodgesville Baptist Church with Reverend Marc Bristow and Reverend Mark Redmond officiating. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow in the Hodgesville Baptist Church Cemetery with Kendall Glover directing.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6 pm until 8 pm at Glover Funeral Home.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Hodgesville Baptist Church Building Fund, 11190 South County Road 33, Dothan, AL, 36301 or Covenant Hospice, 1512 W. Main St., Dothan, AL, 36301.
Mr. Schwinn was born January 30, 1925 in Montgomery, AL to Murrow, Sr. and Tessie Hatcher Schwinn. Row spent his early years between Campbelton, FL and Elyria, OH. He served 30 years in the Army, serving in WWII, Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He retired from the U. S. Army in 1973 and moved to Dothan. After retirement, he returned to school and received his certification in refrigeration and a/c repair. He was a member of the Master Mason formerly of Cottonwood Lodge and he was a member of Hodgesville Baptist Church where he served as treasurer for many years.
Row was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ruby Schwinn, a sister, Clara Nell Watford, 3 brothers William, George and Luther Schwinn, 2 half-brothers Row and Roy Schwinn.
Survivors include his daughters Lynda (Jerry) Smith and Cindie (Charles) Brookins both of Hodgesville; brother-in-law Bryant (Ann) Dudley of Hodgesville; sister-in-law Elizabeth Edwards of LaGrange, GA; 4 grandchildren Felicia (Robb) Vise of Madrid, Nathan Fouts of Dothan, Jeremy Fouts of South Charleston, WV and Adam Brookins of Troy; 5 great-grandchildren Johnathan Vise, Phillip Ploss, Addison Fouts, Kade Brookins and Zane Brookins; 1 great-great grandchild Asher Vise of San Antonio, TX; several nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to Covenant Hospice nurses and staff, Taylor Senior Center and a special thanks to Complete Caregivers, especially Alicia German and Erin Bush “Daddy’s girls” and the family’s angels.
