Daisy Loretta Galloway McGowan, age 82, passed away peacefully with her family at her home on Wednesday, September 30th
Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, October 3, 2020 in the Chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral with Bro. Danny Gill and Bro. David Davis officiating, burial will follow in the Beula Anna Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Saturday beginning at 10:00 am and continue until service time.
She was born July 12, 1938 in Holmes County, FL in the Sweet Gum Head community. She was the daughter of the late W. A. Galloway Jr and Willie Bell Spears Galloway.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, John McGowan Jr, a son, William Terry McGowan, her parents, and her sister, Miriam Galloway Thomas.
In 1957, Loretta graduated high school from Ponce de Leon and married John, the love of her life. They lived in Cocoa Beach, FL, Orlando, FL and Marianna, FL before moving to Holmes County in 1981. John and Loretta built their life around their faith, family and farm. Loretta always had food prepared and an extra plate for anyone who might like a bit to eat. She loved her church family and was happy that she could attend the church in which she had grown up. Loretta loved her Lord and many afternoons she could be found reading her Bible on the front porch. She also enjoyed shopping and eating lunch with her friends. She and her brilliant smile will be missed.
Loretta is survived by her daughters: Pamela McGowan Messer (Mike) of Westville, FL and Mary McGowan McCollough (Curt) of Dublin, GA. Three grandchildren: Jeffrey Messer (Megan) of Rome, GA and Lindsey and Dylan McCollough of Dublin, GA. Two great-grandchildren: Maddox and Madeline Claire Messer of Rome, GA. Four Aunts: Pat Andrews of Westville, FL, Dot Galloway of Tallahassee, FL, Milbra Spears of Westville, FL, and Laura Zerick of Florida ; Three sisters-in law: Louise McGowan of Esto, FL; Elsie Muellar (Ken) of Waukesha, WI and Willene Holmes (Jess) of Milton, FL and a host of nieces and nephews.
