Mr. Dalice Ray “Jack” Gilley of Samson, Alabama passed away November 18, 2022. He was 93.
A Celebration of Life service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 28, 2022 in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva, AL with Rev. Jimmy Eddins officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. and last until service time.
Jack was born in Grand Ridge, FL on July 2, 1929 to the late James Monroe and Nettie Mae Garner Gilley. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was known for growing champion tomatoes. Jack was instrumental in helping to build Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL. In his own mind, he was the “best front-end loader operator” ever to step foot on one. He was a loving and giving father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Hubert Gilley, Inez Creech, Nell Wright and James Gilley; one grandson, Joey Bowden and son-in-law, Mark Bowden.
Jack is survived by his daughter, Terresia Diane Bowden of Yukon, OK; grandchildren, Felecia and James Boher of Meeker, OK and Marsha and Jeremiah Kendrick of Yukon, OK; four great grandchildren; three sisters, Lois Kilpatrick of Samson, AL, Hazel Ann Jones (Rex) and Frances Hersman, all of Enterprise, AL.
