Dane Moormann of Elba, AL, passed away, Wednesday, May 22, 2024 in Enterprise, AL.  He was 16. 

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Enterprise with Dr. Ben Bowden officiating and Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to S.O.S. Animal Shelter, 25944 Highway 134, Enterprise, AL 36330.

Dane loved his family and friends, and loved spending time with them. He was the youngest child and he greatly admired his older siblings. He was an avid music lover and taught himself how to play the guitar. He enjoyed cheering on his favorite teams. He loved the thrills of experiencing the games in person. In 2022 Dane visited Panamá with his father and family. While there he met new family and had many experiences including visiting the Panamá Canal, wild boat rides, hanging out with sloths, and he loved it all. In 2023 Dane accomplished the hiking of Camino Frances with his Mother. Together they hiked 315 km (more than 195 miles) from Leon, Spain to Santiago de Compostela in 21 days. All these experiences created a desire to continue exploring the world.

Dane was a bright light and all that knew him were touched by his kindness and warmth. He will be missed more than words can describe and loved forever. 

Dane is preceded in death by his brother Ramsey Buteaux. 

Dane is survived by his mother, Danon Moormann, Elba, AL; father, Kurt Moormann (Tania), Atlanta, GA; brother, Riley Buteaux, Elba, AL; sister, Elise Moormann, Atlanta, GA; maternal grandparents, Sam and Ellen Lowrey, Elba, AL; paternal grandparents, Carman and Debra Moormann, Gainesville, GA; numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
