DANIEL WARD
HEADLAND. . .Daniel (Danny) Ward, a resident of the Brown’s Crossroads community of Henry County, died early Saturday night, July 21, 2012, at his home. He was 64.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 24, 2012, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Larry Sowell and Reverend George Bryan officiating. Graveside services, with full military honors, will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland and Dothan. The family will receive friends from 4:30 until 7:00 P.M. Monday the mortuary in Headland.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice, 104 Rock Bridge Road, Dothan, AL. 36303 or the Headland Fire & Rescue, 456 East Main Street, Headland, AL 36345.
Danny Ward was born and reared in Headland, son of the late John Daniel Ward, Sr. and Leola Smith Ward. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War and received a Purple Heart. Danny was a member of the Sardis Baptist Church. He was formerly employed as a policeman, sheriff’s deputy, private investigator and bail bondsman. Danny retired, due to disability, in 1991. He lived in Columbia, S.C., Dothan and Headland before moving to the Brown’s Crossroads community in 1996.
Danny was preceded in death by four brothers, John Daniel Ward, Jr., Carl Edmondson, Seaborn Ward and Bob Ward, a sister, Marvella Ward Keller and his father-in-law, Loyd Strickland.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Pam Strickland Ward, Headland; two sons, Mickey Ward and wife, Kimberlee, Ashford; and Danny Ward, Jr., Cottonwood; three grandchildren, Erica Ward, Katrina Ward and Matthew Ward; two brothers, Freddie Ward and wife, Marilyn, Newville; and Eddie Ward, Dothan; his mother-in-law, Frances Strickland, Abbeville; brothers-in-law, Jeff Strickland, Dothan; Tony Strickland and wife, Linda, Headland; several nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be members of the Henry County Sheriff’s Reserve.
