HEADLAND. . .Daniel E. “Danny” Vinson, a resident of Headland, died Wednesday afternoon, December 27, 2017, in a Dothan hospital. He was 71.


            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 29, 2017, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Norman C. Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in the Daleville Memorial Gardens in Daleville, Alabama. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Friday at the mortuary.


            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wiregrass Humane Society, P.O. Box 1045, Dothan, AL 36302.


            Danny Vinson was born in Dothan and was reared in California and Japan. He graduated from high school in Japan and moved to Headland as a young man. Danny enlisted in the Marine Corps and served his country on the Aircraft Carrier USS America during the Vietnam War. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Brown’s Crossroads Masonic Lodge No. 529. Danny was retired from the City of Headland in the Water Department as a Supervisor. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard E. Vinson and his mother, Anna Rosa Campbell Vinson.


            Surviving relatives include his wife, Linda Kirkland Vinson; two daughters, Madonna Bedsole (Mark), Midland City; and Katrina Teal (Earl), Covington, GA; a son, Keith Missildine (Rosanna), Daleville; a sister, Jane Solomon (Dr. Charles Solomon), Birmingham; eight grandchildren, Blake Bedsole, Hannah Brinson (Scott), Chris Bedsole, Christopher Day, Kandie Reynolds (Josh), Brian Missildine, Tristan Missildine, Adam Missildine (Talitha); fifteen great-grandchildren; a niece, Katie Solomon Burnett (Brian), a great-nephew, Jason Burnett, a great-niece, Campbell Burnett; aunts, Robbie Bush Adams and Sara Ham.
