Daniel Troy Kesler of Tacoma, Washington passed away August 11, 2019 at his residence. He was 36 years old.
Services will be held Sunday, August 25, 2019 at 2:00 pm in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Stanley Carter officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. Family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.
Troy was born on August 17, 1982 in Ft. Riley, Kansas. He lived his early years in Daleville and Enterprise, Alabama. While in high school he was very athletic playing football, basketball, baseball and soccer. He later joined the US Army and did his basic training at Ft. Benning, GA, his AIT training at Ft. Gordon and his active duty station was at Ft Lewis, WA. While reporting for duty at Fort Lewis he was recognized as Soldier of the year for outstanding leadership ability, utmost integrity, and constantly seeking community involvement and knowledge/self-improvement-based training. He completed Advance Tactical Network training, Combat Life Savers Course, System Operations-Analyst Course, Development and Management Development Course and Public Relations Leadership development course. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal twice, Army Achievement Medal four times, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, and the Army Service Ribbon. After his military service he continued his love for learning by attending undergraduate classes at Central Texas University while maintaining gainful employment in several different areas of interest. The career that he was most passionate about apart from the US Army was Automobile Sales where he worked at Tacoma Nissan, Dodge Chrysler, Jeep Ram.
Outside of work Troy enjoyed spending time with friends and family, participating in his church, playing golf, Alabama Football, Fishing, Music, Major League Baseball, Professional Hockey, Professional Football, and professional Basketball.
Survivors include his wife Shelly Kesler; his mother Kimberly (Brad) Bullard; his twin brother Trevor Kesler; his nephew Trevor Zach Kesler; his aunts, Pam Gleason, Terri Healy and Beth Gillette; his uncles, Paul Gleason, Isaiah Rob Gillette and Mike Kesler; and his cousins, Brooke Bray Burney, Brandi Bray Schwall, Amanda Healy, Aaron Gillette and Chris Gillette.
