DOTHAN…Darren Lee Blackmon, a resident of Dothan, died early Thursday morning, July 9, 2020, in a Dothan hospital. He was 32.


     Celebration of Life services will be held at 5:00 P.M. Saturday, July 11, 2020, in the Living Water Church, Echo Community, with Pastor Chris Brown and Pastor Doyle Harper officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 5:00 P.M. Saturday in the church sanctuary.


     In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family for Darren’s children.


     Darren was born and raised in Abbeville. He was a graduate of Abbeville High School and attended Wallace Community College. Darren was employed by the State of Alabama and formerly as a Correctional Officer in Clio. Darren was a devoted father, his daughter, Anna-Lee, called him her very best friend. Darren called his son, Lincoln, his “Little Dude.” Darren’s joy was his wife, who not only was his life, but his devoted caregiver during the last stages of his illness. Darren fervently lived for his family and stayed as long as he could, until his daddy assured him it was time to go home and that Lisa and the children would be well cared for. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Don and Jean Simons and Calvin and Arvella Blackmon, and his father-in-law, Ralph “Sonny” Westenberger.


     Surviving relatives include his wife, Lisa Westenberger Blackmon; his daughter, Anna-Lee Blackmon; his son, Lincoln Ivey Blackmon; his mother, Charlotte Simons McCullough (Tim McCoy), Abbeville; his father, Darrell Blackmon (Alivia), Montgomery; his sister, Rebekah Blackmon, Montgomery; two brothers, Timothy Blackmon, Montgomery; and Jason Buxton, Abbeville; his mother-in-law, Cozette “Cozy” Westenberger, Mobile; a special friend, Deborah “Miss Debbie” Shehane, Clio.
