OZARK… Mr. David Carlton (Slim) Harper, a resident of Ozark, died early Thursday morning, February 18, 2021 in a Dothan hospital. He was 71.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 20, 2021 in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Don Mills officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.


            Mr. Harper, son of the late James Theodore Harper and Christine Lenora Wells Stone, was a native and lifelong resident of Ozark. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served three tours in Vietnam. Mr. Harper received a Purple Heart and was the recipient of a Bronze Star Medal. He was formerly employed as a welder in the Oil and Gas Industry in Louisiana and was self employed as a painter. Mr. Harper was preceded in death by a son, Bradley Scott Harper; sister and brother-in-law, Nina Jo and Robert Culverhouse; a nephew, Lee Culverhouse; grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Obie Jackson Wells.


            Surviving relatives include his wife, Shirley Ann Gray Harper, Ozark; son, David Matthew Harper (Rochelle), Ozark; daughter, Brenda Ellison, Troy; granddaughter, Rose Christine Harper; sister, Suzanne Davis (Charles), New Brockton.
