David George Wehrly, a resident of Dothan, Alabama passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at his daughter’s residence. He was 83.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at 11 am in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Kocsis officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-7 pm on Monday, July 23, 2018.
Mr. Wehrly was born April 12, 1935 in Massachusetts and he was a 1954 graduate of Eaton High School in Ohio. He enlisted in the U.S Navy as a Seabee and served four years. Following his military service Mr. Wehrly was employed with TRW (Globe Motors) and he was relocated to Dothan and served as project manager for over 30 years. Mr. Wehrly started his second career with Copeland Corporation in Lebanon, Missouri for 10 years. The City of Lebanon employed him to over see the construction of Cowen Civic Center in the late 1990’s. While living in Lebanon Mr. Wehrly really enjoyed the trout fishing in Bennett Springs River. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and SEAPAC where he served as past president and treasurer. The family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Doty and Amber for the special care and kindness shown to our dad during his illness.
David was preceded by his wife, Norma Kathryn Wehrly.
Survivors include his son, Mark (Stephanie) Wehrly; his daughter, Debbie (Paul) Dowling; his grandchildren, Chase (Dorothy) Wehrly, Coleman (Katie) Wehrly, Analese Peters (Omero) Rosas, Alyson Peters and her fiancé, Drake, Gavin (Savanna) Dowling and Heather Floyd Barrow (Mark Bridgewater); his great-grandchildren, Leah Wehrly, Cole Wehrly, Atlee Grace Wehrly, Hudson Dowling, James Barrow, Madeline Barrow, Victoria Barrow, Andraya Rosas and Chloe Rosas; his brothers, Hank Wehrly and Jack (Mary Jane) Wehrly; his sister-in-law, Nelma Hoff; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
