David Harold “Bo” Johnson was born on April 16, 1935, in Headland, Alabama, to Burl and Obie Posey Johnson. He graduated from Headland High School in 1953, and went on to Alabama Polytechnic Institute, now Auburn University. At API, he was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity, and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in 1957. He served his country in the Air National Guard, and was appointed Second Lieutenant in the Air Force Reserve. After graduation, he moved to Dothan and worked for Bracewell Home Builders. In 1963, he moved to Huntsville, Alabama, opened an office for Bracewell, and built homes until 1968, when he moved back to Dothan. He also opened an office for Bracewell in Albany, Georgia, and in 1977, purchased the Albany office, renaming it Southeastern Properties. He lived in Albany and built homes until his retirement. Bo served several terms as President of The Home Builders Association of Albany and Southwest Georgia. He was a member of the Board of Directors for more than 25 years, and was a Senior Life Director of The Home Builders Association of Georgia, and The National Association of Home Builders. He was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church in Abbeville, and former member of Porterfield United Methodist Church in Albany, Georgia.

Bo loved being outdoors, especially on the water. His active retirement years were spent on Lake Eufaula and Panama City Beach. Many happy memories were made on his boat, “Old Grumpy”, including a nine month adventure that took him and his wife, Carmen, from the tip of Florida, to Canada, and back down to Florida (also known as the “Great Loop”). Bo was an enthusiastic Auburn fan, and he loved being surrounded by good friends including his regular card playing buddies.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Burl and Obie Posey Johnson, and his step-mother Mary Lawhon Johnson.

He is survived by his wife, Carmen, his daughters, Lydia Simpson (Jimmy) Marietta, GA, Julie Jones (Stan) Dothan, Amanda Suddoth (Scott) Germantown, TN, and his step-daughter, Summer Hinton of Abbeville. His grandchildren, Kathryn and Julia Simpson, Turner (Mary Olivia), David (Claire), Stanley, and Rush Jones, Alex, Daniel, Elizabeth, and Sarah Suddoth, and Harper Hinton. He was also the proud great grandfather to Tee and Asa Jones. He is also survived by his sister, Dethalia Armstrong (Joe), and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

His grandchildren will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are John Watson, Mike Conaway, Sam Wainwright, Joe Miller, Lowell Yearta, Buster Bickerstaff, Bill Badger, and Adam Martin.
