David Raymond McDonald

David Raymond McDonald, a resident of Ashford passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021. He was 81.

Graveside service will be held at 1 pm on Monday, January 25, 2021 at Crestlawn Cemetery with Rev. Hosea Parker officiating and Sunset Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at Sunset Funeral Home from 11:30- 12:30 prior to service.

David was born on December 22, 1939 in Webb, Alabama and he was the oldest child of the late Arthur L. and Ruth McDonald. David spent most of his life as a professional truck driver for over 40 years. In his later years David enjoyed fishing, working around his little farm with his horses and helping anyone who needed him. David was a family man who loved his family and his Lord with all his heart. He will be missed more than words can say.

David was preceded in death by his only son, Richard D. McDonald who passed away in 2018 and a beloved grandson, Jesse A. Richardson who passed in 2017.

David is survived by his wife of 60 years, Melba Suggs McDonald; his 3 daughters, Janet (Jesse) Richardson, Kathy (Mike) Shirley, and Judy (Sammy) Jenkins; his granddaughter, 4 grandsons, and others that called him Paw Paw.
