David Williams, of Ashford, passed away Friday, August 13, 2021 at his residence following an extended illness. He was 89.
Private services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Wiregrass Humane Society, P O Box 1045, Dothan, AL 36302.
Mr. Williams was born on January 30, 1932 in Toccoa, Georgia to Thomas Fulton and Lois Whitehead Williams and lived the early years of his life there. After school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served for 10 years during the Korean War Era. Following his military service, he worked with Page Aircraft for 3 years at Ft. Rucker. He later worked with Robins Air Force Base in electronics for 18 years prior to his retirement. Mr. Williams loved animals and was known in Ashford for feeding and caring for stray animals.
He is predeceased by his parents, a sister and two brothers.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Julia D. Williams of Ashford; a son, Mark Williams (Maria) of Warner Robbins, Georgia; a brother, Sanford Williams (Linda) of Toccoa, Georgia, numerous nieces and nephews.
