ABBEVILLE. . .Deborah Whitehead “Debbie” Roberts, a resident of Abbeville, passed away early Thursday morning, March 23, 2023, at her home. She was 71.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, March 26, 2023, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Joey Hudspeth officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Sunday at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, c/o International Mission Board, 3806 Monument Avenue, Richmond, VA 23230.
Debbie Roberts was a lifelong resident of Abbeville, daughter of the late William Patrick “Bill Pat” Whitehead and Willie Mae Duncan Whitehead. She attended Abbeville High School and received an Associates Degree from Wallace Community College. Debbie was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church and was affiliated with God’s Way Baptist Church. She was retired from Spectracare in Abbeville as a Secretary.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Thomas L “Tommy” Roberts; two daughters, Cindy Wilson (Brannon), Leroy, AL; and Lori Roberts, Overland Park, Kansas; a son, James Bailey (Julie), Eufaula; a sister, Gypsy Ethridge, Abbeville; three brothers, Jerry Whitehead (Diane), Phenix City; Billy Whitehead, Dothan; and Ben Whitehead, Abbeville; three grandchildren, Lila Grace Wilson, Mary Jensen Bailey and Porter Bailey; a sister-in-law, Jeannie Roberts Poore (Dick), Charleston, SC; several nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Todd Ward, Scott Blankenship, Brandon Ethridge, Alan Ethridge, James Bailey and Ben Whitehead.
