Demetrius Ellis Young of Chicago, IL, a United States Army and Air Force veteran, peacefully entered into eternal rest Monday, November 15, 2021 at his home in Fort Rucker, AL.
Demetrius was born in Chicago, IL to Minnie Young. He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized into the Baptist denomination. He enjoyed collecting and listening to old school music and was passionate about the culinary arts.
Demetrius completed his early education in the Chicago public school system and soon after entered the United States Air Force serving as an Information Management Apprentice for two years. After a short break in service, he joined the United States Army Reserve serving first as a Military Police Officer, before transitioning to the United States Army serving as a Power Generation Specialist, and finally a Signal Support System Specialist to culminate his 13 years military service. His awards and decorations include, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal (3 Awards), National Defense Serve Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal with Fleet Marine Force Combat Operation Insignia, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (2 Campaign Stars), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Overseas Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Mobilization Device, Air Force Training Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, and NATO medal.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 26, 2021 at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory Enterprise Chapel with Chaplain Matos officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service time.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife Crystal A. Young; daughters Alexandria M. Carrington and expected baby De’jour J. Young; son Demetrius E. Young Jr. all residing in Fort Rucker, AL; mother Minnie Young; sisters Stephanie Jones (William) of Hiram, GA, Sheationa Young, of Chicago, IL, Sanita Young of Springfield, IL; father and mother in law Clyde and Alison Carrington; brothers in law Clyde Carrington, Clint Carrington, Jason Henry; special nieces Lyric Hunter-Bassett of Atlanta, GA, and Masheka Hunter, of Springfield, IL and host of family and friends.
