Dempsey Parker, 57, a resident of Dothan passed away June 19, 2016 at Flowers Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 2 pm Friday, June 24, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy McNeil officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 1pm until 2pm.
Dempsey was born July 17, 1958 in Dothan and he resided here all of his life. Dempsey was a 1976 graduate of Dothan High School and at the age of 18 he started working for Bondy’s Ford. He also enjoyed farming with his father and he continued to work with Bondy’s in the parts department for over 30 years until he retired in 2014. Dempsey was a fun loving and easy going guy who was a friend to everyone. He loved hanging out with friends listening to country music. Dempsey was an avid Harley-Davidson fan who loved riding his bike. “Papa D” had an outstanding love for his granddaughter Chloe who he loved to spend time with.
Survivors include, his daughter, Katie Parker (Drew) Brown; his granddaughter, Chloe Elizabeth Brown; his mother, Violet Parker Hamilton; his brother, Auburn Mitchell (Karman) Parker; his sister, Stacie (Carl) Crozier; nieces and nephews, Justin Crozier, Casey Crozier, Danica Parker and Hana Parker; his longtime companion, Linda Lott.
Serving as active pallbearers will be David Barfield, Freddy Chapman, Greg Dean, Chip Fails, Carl Crozier and Justin Hall.
