Denise Snuggs

Denise "Neicy" Snuggs, a beacon of joy and love, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2024, at the age of 58. Born on October 9, 1965, in Henry County, AL to the late parents, Willie James Mills, Sr. and Dolly Pearl Turner, Neicy was a cherished daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend whose vibrant spirit and infectious laughter left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Neicy dedicated over two decades of her life to nurturing young minds at a local daycare, a testament to her unwavering passion for children and her community. Her commitment to the wellbeing of others extended beyond her professional life, as she was an active participant in various associations, always willing to lend a helping hand where needed.

Her life was a rich tapestry of love woven by her large and devoted family. Neicy's legacy will be carried forward by her loving sons, Shaun Snuggs (Chaquenia) and Steven Snuggs (Sharlae); her adoring daughters, Shannon Currington (Dexter), Sophina Snuggs, Shantae Snuggs, Stephanie Gilmore, and their father Steven Snuggs Sr.; and her special daughter, Caraline Hughins. Her zest for life and boundless affection were mirrored in the lives of her grandchildren, who will remember her as a guiding light: Dallas Jackson, TJ Jackson, TT Jackson, Allan Jr. Lewis, MyMy Snuggs, Daysia Starks, Janecyia Starks, Omari Snuggs, Addy Grier, Avery Caple, Adrianna Johnson, Quavius Britt, Grace Snuggs, Ezekiel Snuggs, Ktwon Snuggs, Ki'Asia Snuggs, and Kimorva Snuggs. Her special son-in-law, Janorris Starks, along with her siblings, Connie Richardson (Willie James), Willie Jean Gilmore, Abigail Mills, Delilah Mills, Willie Mills, and Patricia Anderson (Norman), will also hold Neicy's memory dear.

Neicy's vivacious presence was not only felt within the walls of her home but also throughout her extended family and friends. Her brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and a host of special friends will miss her dearly. Neicy now joins her departed siblings, Christopher Mills and Cynthia Pearl Gilmore, in eternal rest.

Neicy was an embodiment of life's purest joys. She was outspoken and never shied away from expressing her thoughts and feelings with honesty and heart. Her love for the lake was profound, where she found tranquility and the freedom to let her soul soar. Neicy was the life of the party at family BBQs, where she would sing and dance, spreading cheer and laughter. Her signature bright red lipstick was a reflection of her bold and beautiful spirit.

As the sun sets on Neicy's earthly chapter, her family and friends take comfort in knowing that her light will continue to shine brightly in the memories they hold and the stories they will share for generations to come. Neicy's passion for life will serve as an inspiration to all, reminding us to embrace each day with love, laughter, and a little bit of dance.
