Dennis Ardrell Odom

Dennis Ardrell Odom, known fondly as Dennis or Dink to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2024, in his birthplace of Dothan, Alabama. Born on April 15, 1952, Dennis's journey came full circle as he departed this life in the same town that he entered it, surrounded by the love and memories that he had built over 71 years.

Dennis's life was one marked by devotion to his family, a passion for his community, and a legacy of kindness that touched everyone he met. He leaves behind a loving family, including his wife of 43 years, Lynn Odom, who was his partner in every sense of the word. His son, Kris Trawick, and his cherished grandchildren, Brantley, Ava, and Kristopher Trawick, Jr., will remember him as a guiding light and a source of endless support. Dennis's brother, Tim Odom (Cathy), and his sister, Terry Walker, along with sister-in-law, Sharon Odom, and his brother-in-law, Doug Smith (Karen), will carry forward the memories of a man who was not only a sibling but a true friend. His life was preceded by the passing of his parents, M.A. Odom and Frances Culbreth Odom, and his brother, Dan Odom, who have now welcomed him into eternal rest.

A proud 1972 graduate of Dothan High School, Dennis's commitment to his hometown was evident throughout his life. He was a member of Young Jr. and Dothan High’s Football team. He dedicated many years of service to the City of Dothan as a lineman, a role from which he would eventually retire. Never one to remain idle, Dennis continued to share his expertise and work ethic at Poly Engineering in a part-time capacity after his retirement.

Dennis's interests were as rich and varied as his character. An avid Auburn fan, he bled orange and blue. His love for history was not just a pastime but a journey through the stories and lessons of the past. Music was a constant in Dennis's life, with country and gospel tunes providing the soundtrack to many family gatherings. In his younger years, he enjoyed the competition of playing softball, a sport that reflected his love for teamwork and community. He was also a member of Southside Baptist Church.

Those who knew Dennis will fondly remember his dry wit, a trait that brought laughter and lightness even in the most challenging times. His ability to find humor in the everyday was a gift that he generously shared, making every moment with him a cherished memory.

Above all, Dennis was a loving, kind, and selfless man. His actions were always in service of others, whether it was through his work, his involvement in the community, or the simple, everyday acts of love towards his family and friends. Dennis's presence was a comforting one, and he was often the steady hand in a world that can be anything but.
