COLUMBIA. . .Dennis Kilpatrick, a resident of Columbia, died Thursday afternoon, January 12, 2023, in a Dothan hospital. He was 82.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Sunday, January 15, 2023, in the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Vann Cooley officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends following the graveside services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ebenezer Baptist Church, 3894 Ebenezer Road, Columbia, AL 36319 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
Dennis Kilpatrick was born in Selma, Alabama and was reared in Lynn Haven, Florida, son of the late Grady Kilpatrick and L B Brown Kilpatrick. He lived in Southport, Florida before moving to Columbia in 1972. Mr. Kilpatrick was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was retired as a Crane Operator in heavy construction and was employed for many years at the Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant, near Columbia. Mr. Kilpatrick was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Gregory Kilpatrick, a twin brother, Jennus Kilpatrick and also his oldest brother, Bibb Kilpatrick.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Berta Long “Cookie” Kilpatrick, a daughter, Pam Brogden, Dothan; a son, Tommy Kilpatrick (Pam), Montgomery; a daughter-in-law, Jill Kilpatrick, North Carolina; two sisters, Vaudell Hicks (Jimmy), Columbia; and Carolyn Kilpatrick, Dothan; grandchildren, Ashleigh Ellenburg (Shane), Jordan Duke, Lauren Julian (Lee), Chelsie Coscette (John), Kristian Kilpatrick (Lakin), Kristen Kilpatrick, Kacey Kilpatrick and Kael Kilpatrick; great-grandchildren, Slade Julian, Blakely Julian, Emmett Coscette, Adeline Kilpatrick, Parker Ellenburg, Delaney Ellenburg, Dawson Ellenburg, Ava Vasquez, Austin Vasquez and Asher Vasquez.
