BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA…Dennis Vernon Wilson, a resident of Bakersfield, California, formerly of Skipperville, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2021, in The Pointe at Summit Hills in Bakersfield. He was 76.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Sunday, August 29, 2021, in the Bell’s Crossroads Cemetery with Reverend Terriel Andrews officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends following the graveside service. Social distancing and mask guidelines will be observed.
Dennis Wilson was born in Algona, Iowa, son of the late Dewey Vernon Wilson and Grace Dettman Wilson. He attended Wallace Community College and received a degree in Philosophy and Ballroom Dancing. Dennis retired, due to disability, from Perkin & Elmer as a Machinist. He lived most of his adult lifetime in Skipperville, Alabama where he was engaged in farming for forty-three years. Dennis moved to Bakersfield, California in May of 2020. He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Wilson, and two sisters, Patricia Langley and Barbara Combs.
Surviving relatives include three daughters, Jacqueline Hoffman (David), Redding, CA; Caren Floyd (Steve) and Cheryl Young, all of Bakersfield, CA; a sister, Sharon Dorey (Jim), Oklahoma; a brother, Phillip Wilson, Oroville, CA; eleven grandchildren, Aimee Hoffman, Whitney Miller (Dustin), Danielle Opdyke, Tyler Opdyke, Taryn Ziemann, Branden Hoffman, Chloe Robinson, Mark Young, Caitlyn Hoffman, Christy Young and Aimee Young; two great-grandchildren, Oliver Miller and Xavier Ziemann.
