Derek Vaughn Massey, 41, of Dothan passed away Monday, October 1, 2012 at his residence.

Services will be 4 pm Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing.

Mr. Massey was born April 5, 1971 in Huntsville, AL and lived the early part of his life in Birmingham. He moved to Dothan in 1982 and was a 1989 graduate of Northview High School and has resided in Dothan since. He was a member of the Dothan Lions Club and Ridgecrest Baptist Church where he was active on the Ridgecrest Softball Team. Derek was preceded in death by his mother Shirley Doyle Massey.

Survivors include his father Ottis D. Massey of Dothan; a brother Rusty (Lisa) Massey of Dothan; grandmother Jewel E. Doyle of Dothan; nieces and nephews, Jordan Massey, Julie Massey, Chase Massey, Lindsay Massey, Jaison Massey, Aubrie Ferguson, and Megan Henderson; several cousins and close friends including Russell, Thomas, Carl and Randy.
