Derrick Lamont Walker was born November 15 1985; the oldest child of George and Jolinda Walker, of Dothan, Alabama. He was a loving protective big brother to his sister Kimberly Walker. Derrick confessed salvation May 27, 1995 at Center Baptist Church, Newville, AL and was currently a member of Liberty Church in Marietta, Georgia.

Derrick was a 2004 graduate of Northview High School and a 2006 graduate of Wallace Community College in Dothan, Alabama where he studied computer electronics. He resided in Marietta, GA and was an employee of Lockheed-Martin where he worked as a electrical electronic technician. He was described by his co workers as being a very loving, hardworking, easy going, dependable young man.

Derrick loved sports especially Alabama football, baseball and weight lifting. He enjoyed taking road trips and spending time with his family and friends.

Derrick made his transition to be with The Lord on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at the Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, GA. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Mr. Major Walker and his maternal grandfather Mr. Joseph Lee Hunter. He leaves to cherish his memories his parents Mr. George and Mrs. Jolinda Walker, Dothan, AL; his loving sister Kimberly Walker, Birmingham, AL; 2 grandmothers: Ms. Roberta Walker, Abbeville, AL and Ms. Dixie C Hunter, Eufaula, AL; 9 Aunts: Sarah (Christopher) Daniels, Headland, AL, Nettie (Bonzell) Lewis, Dothan, AL, Rosa Colbert, Jacksonville, FL, Martha Groom, Jacksonville, FL, Glenda (Jimmie) White, Phenix City, AL, Rebecca (Larry) Shorter, Eufaula, AL, Jannetta (Roy Lee) Dozier, Eufaula, AL, Earnestine (Andre) Harris, Eufaula, AL, and Garry Appling; 5 uncles: Otis (Mildred) Colbert, Tampa, FL, Murray (Tina) Hunter, Clarksville, TN, Robert (Alice) Hunter, Eufaula, AL, Joseph N. Funeral services will be 3 pm Sunday, August 18, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. W. Charles Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Dothan Community Church, Sanctuary Building Fund, 4390 Westgate Parkway, Dothan, AL, 36303.
