Derrill Lee Smith, 62, of Dothan passed away Friday, November 25, 2011 at a local hospital.


Funeral services will be held 2 pm Monday, November 28, 2011 at Shiloh Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Sessions officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm Monday at the church. Flowers are being accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Shiloh Free Will Baptist Church.


Mr. Smith was born July 4, 1949 in Houston County and he resided most of his life in Dothan. He was a long distance truck driver and had been employed with P.C. White, Georgia Highway, and Carolina Freight for most of his working career. He was also employed with Lewis-Smith prior to his retirement in 1999. Mr. Smith was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.


Survivors include two daughters, Cendi Smith (Jonathan) Stevens, Dothan and Marsha (Lance) Denney, Newton; a son, Spencer Smith, Dothan; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Mary (Steve) Edmondson, Dothan and Jean Anderson, Dothan; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Smith, Dothan and Ursula Smith, Ozark; several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Frances Anderson.
