Desmond Dewitt Sewell, 34, of Abbeville, Alabama passed away while working in Pasadena, Texas.

Funeral services will be 11 am Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Mary Magdalene Baptist Church, 153 Girard St., Abbeville, AL with Rev. Randy Sewell officiating. Burial will follow in Springhill Baptist Church Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Friday at the funeral home.

Desmond D. Sewell was born April 30, 1980 to the late Betty Jean Sewell and the late Tom Alex Murry. He departed this life on July 25, 2014 in Pasadena, Texas. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Willie James Sewell and Ruby Gean Norton Sewell. Des graduated from Abbeville High School and attended trucking school where he obtained his commercial driver licenses. Desmond worked various jobs but his passion was to drive trucks. He was employed by Averitt Express, Inc. at the time of his death.

He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife Mrs. Samantha Peterman Sewell; his children Shaquilla Sewell, Danious Sewell, Deszavius Sewell, Montarius Cooper, and Monqarius Cooper all of Abbeville, AL, and Kristevia Smith, Briana Hicks and Ayanna Norton all of Headland, AL; four brothers, Craigory Sewell of Abbeville, AL, Reginald Sewell of Ashford, AL, Charles (Gale) Brown of Blakely, GA, Drue Fortune of Montgomery, AL; four sisters, Tamaria (Tyron) Lindsey and Annie Woodley both of Dothan, AL, Ebony Murry and Desiree Reynolds both of Abbeville, AL; five uncles, Willie J. Sewell of Hillside, NJ, Willie Earl (Gail) Sewell, Arthur (Florence) Corbitt, Henry Murry, and Robert Murry all of Abbeville, AL; four aunts, Mary Ruth Murry of Hackensack, NJ, Annie Murry, Bernice Murry-Massey, Chris Murry all of Abbeville, AL; a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Mark Jones, Byron Knight, Jesse Stanford, Fratelya Russaw, David Fryer, and Craigory Sewell. Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of Averitt Express, Inc.
