Devata Benton Jeffcoat of Gordon, age 95, passed away Monday, October 24, 2016 at Westside Terrace. Mrs. Jeffcoat was born in Ashford to George Benton and Callie Harp Benton on August 21, 1921.

 

Mrs. Jeffcoat and her husband Paul, were actively engaged in farming poultry, cattle and row crops in the Gordon area. Granny, as all her grandchildren affectionately called her, loved gardening and going to the Ashford Senior Center to play dominos and go bowling.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Roy Paul Jeffcoat Sr., her grandchild, Adam Ray Jeffcoat and her 5 siblings. 

 

She is survived by her sons, James (Mary), Roy Paul Jr. (Lynn) and George (Gloria), 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.

 

A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Gordon City Cemetery with Ward Wilson directing.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ashford Senior Center, 409 County Road 33 North, Ashford, Al 36312.
