Dewey H. Lane, 78, of Dothan passed away Friday, September 6, 2013 at Noland Hospital.
Funeral services will be 2pm Monday, September 9, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. David Scruggs officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Flowers are being accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Resource Center, 1314 Westgate Pkwy #2, Dothan, AL, 36303.
Mr. Lane was born October 1, 1934 in Oklahoma. He was in the shoe business all of his working life. He and his wife owned and operated the Buster Brown Shoe Store from the early 80's until their retirement about 15 years ago. Mr. Lane attended Ridgecrest Baptist Church and was part of the "Mall Walking Buddies" at Wiregrass Commons Mall. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Hattie Lane, a brother Troy Lane, and a sister Wanda Faye Ellis.
Survivors include his wife Jeannette Lane of Dothan; brothers, J.W. (Sandy) Lane of Sands Spring, OK, and Gene Lane of Clearmore, OK; a sister Thelma Tharpe of Tulsa, OK; a godson Joel (Katie) Judah; special friends, Bob and Shirley Ginovsky, Art and Geri Habbard, Ken and Rachel Reeves, James and Sara Moorer and Mark and Treva Leas.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Art Habbard, James Moorer, Bob Elert, Morgan Harold, Bobby Granger, Troy Newton and Gerald Cherry.
