Obituary: Diane Peterman Wooham
Diane Peterman Woodham entered her heavenly home after a brief illness, on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Flowers Hospital, Dothan, surrounded by her family. She was 65.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 19, 2024 at Bay Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Tommy Green officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to New Cancer Promise Foundation, 287 Healthwest Dr. Dothan, AL 36303 or to Bay Springs Baptist Church Building Fund, 1721 South Bay Springs Rd. Dothan, AL 36305.
Diane was born in Arlington, Massachusetts on October 25, 1958. She was a twin and the second child born to Tony G Peterman and Betty Stanford Peterman Adams. She married the love of her life, Keith Elton Woodham on June 24, 1977, at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, Dothan, Alabama. Diane was a devoted wife, married to Keith for 47 years. They made their home in Slocomb, Alabama. She was a loving mother to her daughter, Emily Elizabeth Woodham Darnell (Matthew) and son, Auston Keith Woodham (Amber). Diane was a loving and devoted “Granna” to her grandchildren, Luke Darnell, Cameron Darnell, Reece Darnell, John Brooks Darnell, Braylen Tice, Amelia Woodham, and Allyson Woodham. Diane graduated from Dothan High School and Troy University in Dothan, Alabama after receiving her master’s degree in education. She spent most of her life teaching at Cloverdale Elementary School in Dothan and loved all her students. She was known as a “strict” teacher, but the children loved her because of her love for them. She was well known for making cards and sending her cards to many people. Diane loved to read, but one of her greatest gifts was designing and sewing heirloom clothing for many new babies and children. Diane would not allow anyone to pay for these items because she did this with love. Above all, she took care of her family. Her face would light up when her grandchildren would come for a visit, whether these visits were every day or overnight. One of her last joys with Keith and all of her grandchildren, was taking a RV vacation to a Water Park in Florida for several days. Diane was a faithful member of Bay Springs Baptist Church in Dothan, Alabama.
Diane was preceded in death by her grandparents: Hilburn Stanford and Bessie Woodall Stanford, and Willie J. Peterman and Johnnie Barton Peterman; father-in-law, Jesse Elton Woodham, and mother-in-law, Bessie Moss Woodham.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Keith Elton Woodham; daughter, Emily Elizabeth Woodham Darnell (Matthew); son, Auston Keith Woodham (Amber); grandchildren: Luke Darnell, Cameron Darnell, Reece Darnell, John Brooks Darnell, Braylen Tice, Amelia Woodham, and Allyson Woodham; parents: Tony G Peterman (Charmaine) and Betty Stanford Peterman Adams; sisters: Donna Peterman Strickland (Mike), and Beverly Peterman Dean (Danny); brother-in-law, Jeff Woodham (Joanna): sisters-in-law: Shea Woodham Russell (Billy), Krystal Woodham Hatcher (Shannon), and Samantha Woodham (James Jerkins); many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Her family would like to thank everyone for their kindness and love shown to each family member during this time.
