DON CARLSON

NEWVILLE…Don Carlson, a resident of Newville, died Sunday night, April 21, 2013, at his home. He was 70.

            A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Newville Baptist Church, “In Memory of Don Carlson,” P.O. Box 13, Newville, AL 36353.

            Mr. Carlson, son of the late Helge Wilhelm Carlson and Marian Johnson Carlson, was a native of Austin, Texas. He was retired from the City of Austin Public Utilities after thirty years of employment before moving to Newville in 1999. Mr. Carlson was a member of the Newville Baptist Church.

            Surviving relatives include his wife, Brenda Freeman Carlson, Newville; two daughters, Debbie Jacobs, Austin, TX; Heather Strickland, Newville; two sons, James Strickland and Eric Strickland, both of Newville; six granddaughters, Jayme, Jacqueline, Alexandra, Taylor, Elizabeth, and Laura; four great-grandchildren, Kaylah, Carah, James, and Elijah; an aunt, Florence Carlson, Waco, TX.
