Don Ray Berry, 67, a resident of Ashford, passed away Friday, January 26, 2024, at Southeast Health following a brief illness.


Don was born June 15, 1956, in Dothan to Joseph & Jewell Berry. Following high school, he worked 25 years for Houston County Road and Bridge as a welder up until his retirement. Don enjoyed hunting and fishing. He played golf, and even softball back in his younger years. Don took great pleasure in cooking for people, especially for larger groups. He was of Baptist faith.


He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Lynda Berry of Ashford; a son, Joseph Berry (Ashley) of Rehobeth; a stepson, Chris Harvey (Cheri) of Dothan; a stepdaughter, Teri Stewart (Ricky) of Pansey; nine grandchildren, Victoria Moore (Trey), Olivia Peterson (Will), Bryan Harvey, Jake Harvey, Elizabeth Harvey, Aedan Henry, Caleb Henry, Bryan Henry, and Brandon Tharp; three great-grandchildren, Sophia Moore, Beckett Moore, and Mary Margarette Peterson.


Per his wishes, a private family memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to one’s favorite charity.
