Donald Gene Anderson, Sr., a resident of Dothan, passed away on Friday, July 7, 2017 at a local hospital. He was 86.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at First United Methodist Church with Dr. James Sanders, III and Rev. Allie Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in Grace Point Church Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends in the church parlor from 1-2 pm Wednesday.

Mr. Anderson was born on September 29, 1930 in South Carolina and spent his early years in South Florida. He was a 1957 graduate of the University of Florida with a degree in Accounting and was employed with International Paper for 35 years until his retirement in 1987. He moved to Dothan and was employed with Southland Bank and the Dothan City School Board for a few years. He was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church.

Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his wife, Myra Ailene Anderson.

Survivors include his son, Don Anderson, Jr.; a brother, John (Boots) Anderson; a sister, Wanda Perry; and his brother and sister-in-laws, Becky (Louis) Boothe and Earl (Rosemary) Hardy.
