Donald W. Puhl, age 85, left his earthly home and arrived into the arms of Jesus on December 10, 2017.  Don was born in Pittsburg Pennsylvania on April 8, 1932.  He proudly served in in the US Army and was stationed in Ft. Rucker, AL, where he met the love of his life, Waunette Thompson.   They celebrated 62 years of marriage on December 7th.   Don quickly adapted to the southern life where he enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending his time in his shop, where he enjoyed building things and working on small motors and could repair most anything.  He also served in the Army Reserve and retired from H&R Block, retiring in 2016 after spending 40 years as the franchise manager.  


He is survived by his wife, Waunette, his sister, Dolly Weber, of Tampa, FL, Brother and sister’s-in-law’s, Ramona and Gary Ferguson, Portland OR, Royce and Jackie Reagan, Marianna, FL, Lynda Thompson and Wells Draughn of Panama City Beach, Fl, Dr. Sonny Thompson and fiancé, Rosemarie Brininger of Panama City Beach, Fl, and Wayne Thompson of Geneva.  Nieces Sheri (Jim) Allen, Scott (Angela) Weber, Scott and Wade Miller, Paige Sturgess, Tim Ferguson, Todd and Doug Medley, William, Danielle, and Ross Thompson, Ashlyn and Sharayah Weber. 


A celebration of Don’s life will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Maple Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Wegmann and Royce Reagan officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Maple Avenue Baptist Church or Bible Baptist Church, 1173 Jo Jo Road, Pensacola, FL 32514.


The family wishes to thank Dr. Arnold, Dr. Smith, and the staff of Wiregrass Medical Center for the care and concern given Don during his illness.  A special thank you to Daniel and Jean Cotton, Teddy Fain, and the Care Bears Sunday School Class for their many acts of kindness.
