ABBEVILLE. . .Donna Lynn Ward, a resident of Abbeville, died Saturday night, July 15, 2023, at her home. She was 66.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 18, 2023, in Old Zion Baptist Church with Brother Matthew Quincey officiating. Brother Guy Causey will be sharing a message in a song. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Tuesday in the church sanctuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Old Zion Baptist Church or to Old Zion “Building Fund”, c/o John R. Starling, 267 County Road 57, South, Abbeville, AL 36310.
Donna Ward was born and raised in Rehobeth and was a graduate of Rehobeth High School. She received an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Wallace Community College. Donna moved to Henry County, near the Wills Crossroads community, in 1977. She was formerly employed by Judson Baptist Association as a Clerk. Donna was an active member of Old Zion Baptist Church where she served as Senior Adult Sunday School teacher. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Lee Cobb, a brother, Mark Lee Cobb, her grandparents, Odis and Bannie Whiddon and Leon and Pansy Cobb, and her step-father, Billy Ray Hall.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Steve Ward, a daughter, Stephanie Volf (Blake), all of Abbeville; a son, Stephen Ward, Cookeville, TN; her mother, Linda Hall, Wicksburg; a sister, Ginger Weeks (Denis), Wicksburg; a granddaughter, Lily Volf; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law from the Ward family, Janice and Roger Griffin, Sheila and Ricky Cobb, and Todd and Candace Ward, step-mother-in-law, Pam Ward, several nieces and nephews
Serving as active pallbearers will be Hunter Weeks, Jason Cory, Justin Cory, Ricky Cobb, Roger Griffin and Billy Wayne Hamm.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Gentiva Hospice for the loving care and kindness shown to Donna and her family during her illness.
